Dr. Mary Lou Shelton is our consultant Psychologist. Mary Lou earned a doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Alabama in 1980. Her internship at the Tuscaloosa Veterans Administration Hospital included one year on the Alcohol Treatment Unit. Dr. Shelton has 27 years of expertise in the treatment of addiction. She served as Staff Psychologist in the Substance Abuse Unit for the Kerrville State Hospital for eight years before entering private practice. Over the years, Dr. Shelton has provided both consultative and clinical services for La Hacienda Treatment Center, The Essay House (a halfway house for recovering women), the 38th Judicial District Treatment Center in Uvalde, the Kerrville VAH Substance Abuse Program, and the Texas Department of Rehabilitative Services.
