Overview
We understand that each person is a unique individual, with a unique history that led to his or her addiction. Each one is also unique in how he or she responds to the process of recovery. Knowing these things, we’ve created a program that can be adapted to each individual’s needs. And while we’re serious about helping our clients become clean and sober, we don’t believe that drug and alcohol sober living environments should feel like a prison sentence.

Tech
Bio
Hello, my name is Theresa, and I am a Tech here at Taylor Recovery. My journey as a woman in long-term recovery started on May 20, 2012, due to the consequences of my behaviors. Since that time I have worked diligently to reshape my life and become an asset to society. I am in my 3rd year of my bachelors degree in Psychology with a concentration in substance abuse , and I am working toward becoming a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) and/or Peer Support Specialist. I am currently a certified Recovery Coach, and I am very active in the recovery community. My hope is that everyone who suffers from addiction can one day find the happiness, peace, and serenity that I have found in this recovery process.

Yoga Instructor
Bio
I have been a yoga practitioner since 1995 with a foundation in the Kundalini style of yoga and received my 200-RYT certification through Lex Gillan and the Yoga Institute in January of 2013. At this juncture, I am fascinated with all types, forms and disciplines that exist within the vast arena of modern day, western yoga. Generally I like to offer an eclectic class, pulling from various strains to explore breath, postures and meditation.Yoga builds community, is physically challenging, designed to create focus, to activate a present mind and to still the inner voice. These qualities, along with the stamina and flexibility that a daily practice can generate, have enabled me to live a more balanced and mindful life.Yoga has personally transformed me and it is a privilege to have the opportunity to share it with my students. Teaching yoga is, by far, one of the absolute highlights of my day. When I am not teaching, I am working on completing graduate work in art history at the University of Houston. I perfect day for me would involve cooking my son his favorite meal while watching sports on television and snuggling with my two cats. It is the simplest things in life that are often the most rewarding!

Yoga Instructor
Bio
I began my yoga journey as part of my physical therapy following a car accident in 2010. I immediately fell in love with the healing powers of yoga, both for the mind and the body. It’s the one place I can draw my focus back into a state of tranquility when the demands of life seem to pull me in every direction. Yoga centers one’s self back into the present moment, allowing you release everything else, while in turn filling that space with peace and awareness. I find the combination of clearing the mind while strengthening the body very invigorating. I was amazed at how much stronger I was with each session! I decided to refocus my life by sharing this experience with others. I received my certification from the Yoga Institute training under Lex Gillan and have since trained under Niki Nira at Yoga Living. I will always be a student of the practice, as I believe one should never stop adding to their learning. I am very grateful for the wisdom my instructors have shared with me and I hope to pass on the love of yoga to others.

Added to my already tough life
One manager “Jessica” told me she went through the medical records because she was curious about my trauma and what I said in therapy and drug test results. She also did this for ALL other employees working there. Clearly taking advantage of her position. I was bullied by several staff members Jessica, Stanton, counselors, nurses. Theresa would constantly wake me from sleep. Thus making me work sleep ... more deprived for months. I was promised a raise from Courtney the whole time. He would also harass me like the clients would. He let clients sexually assault me also and give them no consequences. Instead he would high five them. My assets were grabbed, I was dragged down the hallway to a room, and I was attacked with a needle in a girls hand. All these things happened and I was forced to be around these people right after. Refusing to let me go home after. Worst was the fact that they denied me counseling after finding a dead kid in bed who had been dead for 6-7 hours. Instead, Steve Houseworth who is in prison told me “you smelt it, you dealt it”. When I signed up to go back to school, they tried to get me to drop out after my first semester back. The manager, the owners, whomever, they did not like me trying to better myself on MY own time. They accused of things that did not happen, thus allowing me to get unemployment. They’re lucky I haven’t decided to get an attorney involved yet. Although they should be responsible for the extra trauma added to my life. This place made me terrified that a client was going to attack me. The day before I left a client threatened to assault and kill me. But nobody cared they just care about making money and going to Hawaii.
